Race Results: 100K Mountain Biking Event, Olympic Distance Triathlon

IronStride coaches took some time for racing this past busy weekend too!

Ron Leyenhorst challenged the well know Whiteface hills of Wilmington, NY in a 100k mountain biking event. The conditions and organization of all (including some awesome feed zone options) were great which helped the recovered and training champion Ron through the course in about 5:39! Ron also used his charm in meeting the creator of the Leadville trail 100, Ken Chlouber (included in the “Born to Run” story), to charm his way to a qualified spot in his race! Fun times ahead with Chuck who also got a spot in the race for 2015. Keep climbing!

Ryan van Dyl also competed in my first Olympic distance triathlon at Guelph 1. With five hours to sleep the night before in my mom’s car outside the conservation area, I was happy to wake up and get to racing! The swims beach start provided a panicked begining, but I settled eventually and made it through. The 35km/h average ride set me up well as I had a good run passing many to the finish in 2:20:58  More practice and Olympic tri’s ahead but feeling speedy thanks to everyone at IronStride and Randy/Mark TI Cycle getting me set on the Guerciotti bike! See you all at practice soon!
